Marshall Votes Against ACA Subsidies Yet Again and Jeopardizes Healthcare Affordability for Kansas Families

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TOPEKA –  For the ninth time, Senator Roger Marshall voted against extending essential Affordable Care Act enhanced tax subsidies. This move will spike healthcare costs for most of the 200,000 Kansans insured on the ACA marketplace. Even after publicly admitting that “premiums are going to go up,” Senator Roger Marshall cast a vote that ensures working families across Kansas will pay skyrocketing premiums for the same healthcare.

In response, Kansas Coalition for Common Sense spokesperson Lauren Fitzgerald released the following statement:

“Roger Marshall created a healthcare crisis that could spike healthcare costs for hundreds of thousands of Kansans, and in some cases, end their healthcare coverage entirely. Marshall is DC politics at its worst: openly admitting that his votes will make life more expensive for his constituents, but doubling down on his partisan agenda anyway. Kansans deserve better than Roger Marshall and his price-hiking agenda.”

  • Kansans will lose out on an average of $580 per month ($6,960 annually) when Advanced Premium Tax Credits expire at the end of the month.
